Building of the Lake Hévíz
We rethought the building that became a symbol of Hévíz and created it with a local ceramic master.
A slice of the characteristics of our city, which will accompany you on your way and revive your memories.
Count György I. Festetics, the landowner, had the first, then rectangular, two-building baths built in 1795 over the lake. In 1801, news of the beneficial effects of the medicinal water reached Vienna, and a report from 1818 mentioned the presence of white water lilies in the lake. Other Indian species were planted in 1898.
Water Lily
Water lily, pond lily, candock, lotus - there are so many names for this flower but there is no doubt that the pink and purple flowers swaying on the water fascinate everyone in Hévíz.
The flowers are not only aesthetically important but also play a major role in slowing down the cooling of the water, while the stalks that crawl along the bottom protect the medicinal mud. In autumn the water lilies go back into the mud and sprout again in spring.
